Default damaged fairing from attachment screws

I dont know how i did it but.............I was installing the outer fairing using the same screws as removed and when I was done, there is a dimple, more like a wart, on the outer fairing from the screw pushing through.
Anyone else been there? just looking to see if there is a repair out there.
Thanks

I've had the fairing on/off of my 08 SG many times and have never had an issue. Are you sure that it was the right screw? If you back out the screw, does the dimple/wart go away? Is it possible that you didn't get the screw exactly into the threads (female side) - maybe just to one side or the other?? Does the rest of the fairing seem to be lined up correctly?
Regardless, I'd back it out completely, make sure that it's all lined up and try threading it back in again.

You would need to be real careful not to burn the paint but a heat gun might work. I would put my hand over the paint side with the gun set to low and heat from the back to make sure it didn’t get too hot.
Its an old dirt bike trick for repairing fenders.

are all the screws the same size? On the R/G there are 2 screws that are longer than the other 4.

If youre talking about the two inner screws that are located outside the speaker pods....those screws have washers on them. If the washers are not used, the screw head will go right thru the inner fairing & cause that "bump" you have. Take the screws out, check it out & if needed...carefully heat it up w/ a hair dryer & see if you can flatten the bump & let it cool.

I was thinking that those screws screw into metal fasteners that are screwed into the fairing.

Thanks to all that replied. I bought this bike as a wreck and the right side of the fairing was missing. When I removed what was remaining on the left, I didn't notice the standoff that was attached to the fairing. I simply used a really long screw. I went to the dealer and looked up what I needed. Damn! When all else fails...read the manual.
Today I will try to massage it out with a little heat. It was what my painter recommended as well.
Thanks again
