? on personal property taxes, after living in illinois and not paying personal property taxes and now living in mo. would like to get idea of what i'm looking at when time comes to pay them. just ball park will do, either on a 09 street glide or a 10 fatboy. thanks.
My total personal tax bill was $1200 (09 Yukon, 07 MKX, 07 16 ft Cargo trailer, and 08 FXD) of which $211 was for the 08 Dyna Super Glide.
I have lived in both MO and IL and the taxes work out to about the same for most (personal and Property combined) as long as you dont have to much of one or the other.
No personal tax in IL but the property tax is much higher.
I've got a '09 Fugly and the PP tax on it was $194.82 for 2010. I would think the valuation on a '09 SG and a '09 RG would be very close to the same. Hope this helps.
I was going to add but Gearhead3 kind of pointed out that the tax rate varies by area. So thats why my 08 FXD was higher than his 09 RG.
Didn't realize that different areas had different tax rates as far as PP tax was concerned. I'm only one County over from where georgemcghee lives (St. Charles County vs. St. Louis County) and St. Charles County taxes tend to run a little less. Hopefully that'll give him a little bit of a break.

Ya it will be close as I think it only varies by about 1 to 2% in most areas.
Basically you take 33% (think its actually 33 1/3%) of the value of your personal property and multiply it by your tax rate for were you live. Usually somewhere between 5 and 6.5%.
So a bike worth 12k at 5% would be $198.
This applies for most persoanl property but stuff like farm equipment, classic cars, moble homes and some other things are figured at a different rate.
Dardenne Prairie is in one of the higher cost areas, that county as well that area is one of the bigger growth spots( I lived in Cottleville for 20 yrs), just be ready when you go to pay the PP Tax. I am west of you by 20 miles and this area is 1/2 -1/3 the PPT as there.
