Here's the thing about the stock compensator on '07 to '10 model years - the cam slider and shaft extender can get badly gouged. You can't see this without taking the compensator off the bike and inspecting it. The gouging causes the cam slider to temporarily lock up. When there's enough torque it will break free and in doing so cause a knock/bang.

Auto tensioner on the primary chain messing up
Even a bad or loose motor mount
If it is still under warranty, have them chase it down and fix it.
If not, start checking and eliminating what it's not before you start spending $ and time.

I traded for a used 08 Ultra last year and it does it also.
The 98 I traded in would get what felt like slack in the drive train not long before I would take it in for service. It would be gone after getting it back.I figured they must have adjusted the primary chain?
The 08 had it before getting it serviced and still had it after getting it serviced. Guess I'll have to ask about the compensator.
