Hi folks,
Just joined the forum. Looks great. Been searching all morning for an answer to my question with no luck.
I'd like to convert a set of police bags to civilian style latches.
I know there are a lot of parts (and threads!) to smooth out the look of the hockey puck, etc- that's not what I'm looking for.
I actually want to buy new latch and hinge hardware so I can use the standard civilian style of latch. HD dealer says: "oh man, that's at least 500... actually probably 600 dollars worth of hardware"
Is there a recommended aftermarket latch/hinge setup? Or am I stuck with Factory prices?
Thanks guys, so the message is NO, they aren't any aftemarket alternatives?
Yes there are after market choices. If you want to pay $450 or so. What about your lids, won't they have large holes in them if you do this, Lids are expensive too.
Probably the best thing to do would be find a set of standard saddle bags for sale that match your bike with all the hardwear on them. Install those on you bike.
Then sell the Police saddle bags as a comple set.
Theres a lot of Police Bikes out there and their owners want to keep them police bike. So there is demand for what you have.
Buy the time you patch everything up and buy the hardwear and paint it will cost much more then swapping out.
I've checked out those places, and it appears that what they consider a "latch" is really just the face plate that goes over the actual hinge/latch assembly. I'm looking for the whole ball of wax- not just a billet cover.
