Default port and polish?

Thinking about having my heads done ('10 SG). Had a few questions though.

What does it cost?
What kinda gain did u get?
Dose this require a new map?

I'm guessing $700, bout 5 HP, and yes for another $250 custom map.

Thanks.

299.00-5000.00
2-100hp
yup.

Lol...Typical street ported heads will be from 300-900 or so. some higher, some lower.
You will see a gain by getting just the heads done...but...the real gain is when a package is put together that works. That means setting the compression right for the cam's needs and porting the head to compliment the entire rpm range.

Just swap cams if you want a little boost. If any more than a little is wantedgo big bore and do the heads to suit.

Here's a link to Big Boyz. They did mine & several others on this forum. Be sure to discuss your entire build with whoever you choose to do the heads.

It's all about how much incremental performance increase you need or want. It's also about how much money you have to burn. I went with Big Boyz for his $300 street port. If I had cash to burn and the inclination to squeeze out every last ounce of performance, then I would go all the way with any of the reputable guys mentioned here on the forum.

In the end I think the questions you need to ask are exactly how much performance increase will you get versus the expense. It's a challenging question to answer but with the cost involved, its a necessary question. You can spend huge money to chase the last few percentage points of performance. It all depends on your build and what you want to accomplish.

Well..... Are you at 96"? When you have the heads off are you going to bump up compression by going to a .030 hg? What cams are you thinking? I certainly wouldn't spend any $$ on heads without bumping compression or changing cams on a 96".
