Default 95" build

Going to 95" have 37G cams w flat top pistons, mild head work being done.Want 9.6 compression (approx).
How much should be milled off heads to acheive this compression?
Any input appreciated.
Also have 10.5 to 1 compression KBs for sale.
Thanx Kurt Zimmie

It's really hard to say Kurt. You'll have to cc the heads and do the math. There's a calculator on the RB Racing website that will help ya figure it out.

9.6 should be good for the 37's. Is this in light bike?

I have a S&S 95 kit with the Andrews 37s and the SE Pro heads. the Pro heads are supposed to make a 10 to 1 engine, but I cced the heads the other day and they came out to 77ccs and I have a .045 gasket

Im not sure how far my pistons will be in the bore but if there in the neigborhood of .0010 or .0002 it will
be a 9.6 to 9.8 engine, which will be cool for the 37 cams

Guess i need to pull mine out of the box and cc them too...hope they are at that range as i didnt wanna go over 97 or so on cr...Mentor, what mapping sustem do you run? need something close to break it in before i take it to the dyno...i"ll be running the same setup here too...have the pcIII but thinking about getting the sert....think if out on the road somewhere and ecm or pc goes south, it would be easiest to carry a disc with my map and get a new ecm and have my map loaded then it would be to find a new pcIII in stock somewhere

My bike is an 01 standard(touring) carb, carb has been modified, slip on sampson mufflers, opened up backing plate.
Trying to get info about 37Gs.
Going to keep compression mild ,trying to use premium pump gas,(93) octane.

TW-37G's

Here is a real world dyno run of a 2003 Super Glide with 37G's.
No tuning, just a raw base run.

88 C.I.
Stock heads and intake and CV
Dynojetted CV (SlowJet 48 Main Jet 200)
SE Stage 1 AC
Super Trapp SuperMegs 2:1 Exhaust (22 disc's)
S&S Cam Gear Drive
Andrews TW 37G Cams

Service Manager stated that with my upcoming 98C.I. upgrade, the 37G's would be perfect. He stated that the cams would work OK with my present 88 C.I. engine. Boy was he right. Bike pulls like a freight train till rev limiter kicks in. No loss of torque at low RPM. Sweet Midrange. Big Smile High RPM!!

I cannot wait to see the figure's when the 98 (with as of yet undecided heads) dyno runis made!! Oh Yah, the Service Manager wants to put a Mikuni 45mm with SE intake on.

Kurt,

Here's a dyno sheet from my current RG with 95", 37G's, BigBoyz heads (9.7:1), and a D&D FatCat..... It made grerat numbers and ran REALLY good. "However", w/o 93 octane fuel.... It pinged... While the 37 is a good cam, it may not be the best cam for Baggers. I've since pulled them for Andrews 26G's.

Sadly, with the taste of 100/100 power from the 37's, I was not satisfied w/ the 26's. Hopefully, I have found a great Bagger setup now, with a HQ 98" build and HQ-0039 cams.

Buttman ~ the HSR45 is probably too much. A properly tuned HSR42 is AWESOME and it will easily support a 98"er w/37's.... and then some!

Philm I have a 2005 RG also and was thinging about big boyz heads and a 37g cams.I have95" with flat tops and 203 cams and a pcIII, I havent had it dynoed but it seems like a dog to me. You mentioned a pinging problem I hated to here that I may have to rethink my choice. Do you have any idea what was causing this I thought pinging was from high comprssion
