Default Best rain tires?

Since I love riding in the rain so much, what is the best rain tire?
Also since I only need a front, any issue with mixing tire brands?

This question has prolly come up for discussion before, please send a link to previous threads about this. I am at wo*k and don't have time for a lengthy search...

Metzeler ME880's work really well in rain. I always match the front and rear.

No problem mixing brands.

I disagree about mixing tire brands. Everything I have read says don't do it. Do a little research and you will see what I mean. Tires are tested as a set and the handling characteristics between say a Dunlop and a Metzeler has never been tested and could cause adverse handling issues.

I can't answer your mix and match question because I always run stock Dunlops. Never had a problem with them in the rain, although I don't love riding in it. When it is raining, I don't go over the speed limit, and I start stopping sooner. The only thing different I would do if I ride in the rain a lot would be to change my tires out sooner than later.

Before switching both to Avons, I ran a Dunlop on the front and Avon on rear for about 5,000 miles. I didn't have or notice any handling problems.

It might be possible for mixing to cause a problem, but I've never had a problem mixing them.

I've got ME880s on the 'Train, they're like glue in the rain. The stock Dunlops on the Limited are good in the rain too.

Mixing tire brands or radial & bias ply isn't an issue.
