Since I love riding in the rain so much, what is the best rain tire?
Also since I only need a front, any issue with mixing tire brands?
This question has prolly come up for discussion before, please send a link to previous threads about this. I am at wo*k and don't have time for a lengthy search...
I disagree about mixing tire brands. Everything I have read says don't do it. Do a little research and you will see what I mean. Tires are tested as a set and the handling characteristics between say a Dunlop and a Metzeler has never been tested and could cause adverse handling issues.
I can't answer your mix and match question because I always run stock Dunlops. Never had a problem with them in the rain, although I don't love riding in it. When it is raining, I don't go over the speed limit, and I start stopping sooner. The only thing different I would do if I ride in the rain a lot would be to change my tires out sooner than later.

It might be possible for mixing to cause a problem, but I've never had a problem mixing them.
