I understand the standard windshield on my RKC is 20". I have to sit nealy as tall as I can to see over the top. I would like to get a 16-18" that will fit the OEM brackets already on the RKC. Being frugal (some say cheap) I would like to consider an aftermarket before I go to HD.
Everybody and their brother is making windshields now. Tons of options. Here are a few.
Memphis Shades
National Cycle
Freedom Shields
Long Ride Shields
Cee Baileys
Klockwerks
and the list goes on and on. Of course they all claim theirs is the best as you can imagine. Another option is to cut down your own windshield. Not that hard to do if you have a jig saw and some patience.
Memphis Shades is a decent shield. Price is right. And you can get tinted bottom portions. They aren't bulletproof, tho. Or you could take yours to a reputable plastic / plexi-glass shop to get it trimmed if you don't want to do it yourself. If its cut, protected and finished right, you won't know the difference.
Long Ride Shields has a 19" (measured from the top of the headlight) which I think will be more like a 18" windshiled from HD that has their flip up feature due out any day. Ive been waiting on it for months. I think it will work perfectly for me and I have the same problem you describe.

Any vendor suggestions?

Hi Greg - we've been manufacturing custom windshields for 25 years and have received rave reviews from riders worldwide. For the Road King, most riders go down to our 17" or 18.5" with our unique recurve design. You'd be able to see over the shield, but still get the same or better protection than the stock 20". Please take a browse around our website or call me for more information.
All of our windshields come wrapped in a clear plastic wrapping allowing you to test drive the shield to assure that it performs to your expectations. Also, the light grey 18.5" w/recurve is our Facebook Windshield Of The Week and is 20% discounted from yesterday until the 16th.

I look forward to hearing from you
How do we order it at 20% off on your site? Just place "Facebook Shield of the Week" in the comment section? Also, this is only for the grey, which is $28.00 more than the clear, making the final price $127.20 with the FB code, correct?
Hi all - thanks for the interest. If you order online, just put FB in the comments section and I'll adjust the price to reflect the discount. The final price with discount will be $127.20 plus shipping.
