I am the first to admit that a stock 09 SG isn't breakneck fast. But I did feel it could accelerate out of trouble on the highways and onramps. Well I found a really good deal on a 50th anniversary convertible Vette last year and pretty much just drove it December and January leaving the SG protected from winter in the garage. Its not that I like to drive fast. OK, that’s not true, I like to drive fast. But what I really appreciate about good performance is accelerating out of traffic. Its easier to stay focused on the traffic in front than to worry about the traffic in the mirrors. That vette likes to stay in front.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those idiots that whips in and out of lanes trying to pass everybody. I've mellowed in my old age and just like find a groove that lets me cruise at the speed limit without dancing around in traffic. But you know how it is, given the choice of slowing down or speeding up to change lanes, speeding up is just safer.
Well I’ve just put about 1000 miles on the SG the last couple of weeks and its just plain slow. Slow enough that I thought something was wrong. I put the bike in the shop to install a SE compensator and they said it rode a peppy as ever. Add a good stiff Oklahoma South wind? Well, Corvettes are just Harley speed killers. I need to call FuelMoto or get a Prius.
It's a simple fix. Sounds like you need an engine upgrade. They're several options to choose from.
All you need to is to decide how much you want to spend.

That's the very reason I did the motor work on my 08 SG. I felt it didn't have the euf I needed with the 96 motor. Happy now though
All it takes is Money and a good Harley Mechanic....... You choose just how fast you
want to go. The parts are out there in bunches. and the Harley mechanic and tuners are
there too.... Just be very careful in choosing both........................... hdman
Dudes........it two totally different things. I have a 2011 Road King Classic. Got a Stage II build....Big Sucker, Reinhart True Duals and SE 204's, Dyno was at Max Power = 91.91 and Max Torque = 106.46..........a great tune that I'm happy with.
My "beef" car is a 2001 Dodge Viper GTS. It's putting out just under 500 H.P. It's faster than Sh....t. I love it.
Is it faster than my Harley? Absolutely. The Harley runs out real good with the Stage II build. It ain't no Viper. I love them both and fell very fortunate to be able to have both.
Guys, be happy with what you have. It's more than most!!!
