Default 2010 Streetglide

I was speaking to my friend yesterday and he was complaining about "bottoming out" the suspension on his new SG. I asked him what the psi of his shocks were and he said they were set at 20psi.

My question is, is that normal or what do you think? he is about 290 and his lady about 165.

Any insight?

I run 35 solo with no bottoming out. 45 two up. I believe the manual says not to exceed 50psi. Its right in his owners manual.

It's all relative. The stock rear shocks suck...no matter what pressure you have them set at. He's just going to have to experiment with a pressure that's most comfortable to him. Then check it periodically. I way 200lbs & ride with an air pressue setting between 10 & 25 psi (depends on type of riding). When I have an adult passenger I'll set it to 50 psi to help prevent them from feeling like the tire is going to enter their ***!

he doesnt have the manual, he bought it from someone that didnt give it to him. He is gonna go pick one up. What is the easiest way to ADD air to these shocks? With a bicycle pump?

I hate to say it but buy the pump from harley. Too easy to blow out the shocks or lines with anything else.

The Harley Pump is worth the money.
Very accurate & has a built in peressure guage. Small enough to keep in your saddle bag and can be used in an emergency to (slowly) inflate a tire.
