Another +1 for Redline Shockproof Heavy in the tranny.

While you're at it... Redline's Primary Case synthetic oil as well. (though not as critical as the Shockproof Heavy for the tranny).

both have worked great for me

Mobil on Gear Lube...not so much...but not terrible.

I use the following:
Amsoil 20-50 in engine
Amsoil 75-140 in tranny
Formula + in primary

opinions like A-holes ya know,
but those are my choices......

OK, I thought it was 20w50. You know, like the160hp tire smokin' bikes run in their engines AND transmissions. I've run Syn3 in all 3 for 52k hard ridin' miles in my Road King but I'm changing to Mobil1 V-Twin this year because I can buy it closer to home. Maybe the guys with 6 speeds have a problem with 20w50 in the trans but I don't, and never have in my 43 years of riding. I've had no problems with 10w40 either. And there IS a difference between motor oil and motorcycle oil.
