Default volt meter reading high?

New 2011 Streetglide, voltage gauge reading 14-14.5 ish all the time. Is this normal?

I think so. Mine does the same and there is no way it is broke because like me, my bike is perfect!

Mine does also. Put a volt meter accross the battery and at 2000 RPM, it read 13.9
I figure that is good enough (2004 FLHTCUI)

normal - had same question when i got my 2008.. voltmeter and true voltage while bike is running has some error.. i guess about 5-7%... User Manual scared me when it says should no read higher then 14V... thats what brought on the question to dealer..

Noticed it yesterday on mine also. My '08 ran just below 14. This one is much closer to 15. But if it's as accurate as the fuel gauge, I'm not really worried...

I don't think the meters in the fairing are precision calibrated instruments so there will be variances high or low of the actual voltage. Using a calibrated VOM at the battery will give a much better reading.

Heck mine reads 15+ every time. I worry if it drops below that. I tend to agree that the gauge is not terribly accurate.
