Caught on Fire Yesterday!!
Not really, but I did start Smokin'.
Awhile back, I got rid of my stock turnsignals/tailight and installed a one-piece unit from Cyclevisions called the "Eliminator". Nice trick piece with led lights. All was working fine. Couple of days ago, I decided to install the "Flasher" unit which makes your brake light flash 3 times and turns your turnsignals into running/brake lights.
Well, coming home yesterday on the sunny California freeway and traffic was jammed up so I was braking alot. Just as I started to smell something, a guy coming up behind me on a metric bike beeped his horn and yelled to me that my seat was on fire!! I pulled over right away on the median and shut down the bike. Pulled the seat off and noticed that the load equilizer that came with the Eliminator unit was burnt up pretty good. I guess I needed to install another load equilizer with the flasher unit but I failed to do so. This must have caused an overload on the original unit and it started to smoke. Now I need to buy 2 new LE. Just glad it wasn't any worse than that!!
And thanks to the Metric Rider who alerted me and then pulled off the freeway with me to make sure everything was allright. Ride safe brothers no matter what you ride!!
