If you need to ask, take it to a dealer. Its a big deal. You need service manual, special tools, primary locker and transmission locker. 200lb torque wrench, special sockets, 700 lb inpact, inner primary and rear wheel needs to be removed. It is a pain for a first timer.

If you don't have a HD Service Manual then you should buy one before starting!!!! It's all in there. But I'm sure someone can give you a few tips. good Luck

when i replaced mine it took 18 hours to do it. that's counting running around looking for parts and tools. reading the manual and figuring it out was 3-4 hours. actual work time was about 10 hours. i didn't bust my *** because i wanted to get it right.

welcome to the forum big ace 65, yeah, all of the above. it's a pretty tough job for someone who hasn't been into the primary side of our motors. the cost of the compressor, impact, sockets, etc, ya see where this is going? you might be better off taking it to a competent indy or even harley to get it swapped out. as i get older i realize that work is highly overrated, so i usually turn this sort of work over to someone who's done a bunch of them. i have all the necessary tools, but i'd rather be riding than wrenching. good luck with your drive belt.
