Are they the hard leather bags? I found a pair of locks for the Heritage soft bags. They might make something for the hard bags. They consisted of a stud mounted on the outside surface of the bag that protrudes through a hole punched in the lid surface. Then a screw-on **** with a locking keyway screws onto the stud. You might check www.durasafe-usa.com.
Looks like they are updating their website so no pictures are there, but they use your current bag emblem and an internal plate attached to the inside of the bag that has a locking mechanism. You will need to drill a couple of holes in the bag to hold the mechanism. Once the bag is closed, you see no difference. http://www.inertiawrx.com/
Save your hard earned money. The locks made for RKC bags mount in the front of the lid where the chrome emblem is. They do a great job of holding down the front of the bag. However, a 5 year old can lift the rear of the bag up and fold it over to get a hand in the bag.
I have them on my bags, the fact is that any locks on RK Classic is useless. They don't work! I just got some hardbags. The leather bags look good brand new, but as far as security;not. Save your money
I just installed the RK-01 from inertiaworks. They are made of quality materials and look good when installed - not much room taken up inside. The instructions are a bit confusing when it comes to installing the striker plate which is where the drilling comes in. And the drill tailings will drop between the leather and the plastic casing causing a buldge there, if not careful. Needless to say, the second one came out better then the first. If anyone plans to install them, let me know and I will throw a few hard learned tips your way.
Regarding the overall security, I believe that for the 175 bones, I have prevented a thief from stealing the bags off the bike while on a trip where I really need them. Other then that, I have insurence.
When empty I leave them unlocked so that the thief can look inside and move on to the next victim.
I didn't like the types of locks offered or the $$$ so, I picked up some race type hood latches, grommets, and two small marine padlocks. 98% of the time the locks are unused and in the bags. Can also lock a helmet to the bag.
