I have a 99 Ultra and there is a relay under the fairing next to the right speaker, it does go bad and it will keep your starter from engaging, it's a known issue with the 99's, I always carry a spare, there is also one under the seat on the far right side next to the frame.

Also check your hot wire going to that realy (under the fairing), mine had to be re crimped as it does get brittle with age.

One more thing, you all will think this is crazy but replace the eye's on the wire going to the starter at the main circuit breaker by the battery, the crimp end on that eye was too small a gauge and will get hot and open the circuit keeping the battery from engaging. Replace the breaker as well, you can get all of this at Harley or Napa.

Been there done that!

Your very best bet is to go buy the shop manual for your year/model. It is way better than trying to poke around blindly with a schematic even with all the advise you get here.

I know this didn't answer the question, but eventually it will.

Think I will opt for the manual love the bike but things seem to be diffrent from other years.Like the 99.I also have a 85 limited edition goldwing. So as you can see if I like something I tend to keep it. My 20 year old daugter says I have VINTAGE TASTE lol. Thanks to everyone for all your input.

Grounds are very important on EFI systems.
Is the ground attached to the frame in one specific spot? if so where would that be? is it easiest to try and chase the wire or is it buried?
