Default Help with Rear Swingarm Bracket

OK, I am installing new passenger floorboard mounts on my '08 RKC. In doing so, I removed the rear swingarm bracket (just one at this time). I could tell when I was removing the bolts that there seemed to be pressure on them, which made me wonder if I should be doing it. But I went ahead and removed them and now want to reinstall the bracket. However the holes don’t quite line up… The holes on the body are wider apart than the holes on the bracket. Can anybody help explain to me what I need to do to reinstall the rear swingarm brackets?

Much appreciated…

Hopefully you have a jack and back wheel just off the floor. Make sure the little nub is lined up and then you can push or pull on your rear wheel to get it lined up, helps to have two people.

gmc,
Thanks for the info... I don't currently have a jack under it but am able to get one under it. I understand what you mean, because right now, the little nub is not centered. It is forward, which probably makes sense, seeing as the other swingarm bracket is still on. Not? Sounds like a two person job. I didn't hurt anything by removing that, did I? If I am going to remove the other, would it be easier to install this one first, rather than having both off at the same time?

Thanks again...

You didn't hurt anything, just make sure the nub and slot line up when you get the bolts to line up. The floorboard bracket holds the swingarm aligned and once you take it off it shifts a little since the weight of the bike and belt is pulling on the swingarm axle which is resting on the rubber bushing. If you want to take 20 min. watch www.glide-pro.com installation instruction video. You could loosen the rear axle and take pressure off the belt if you can't get it.

You just need a scissor or bottle jack and a small block of wood under the transmission, to lift it a small amount and re-align the holes.
