I took delivery today of a 2010 FLTRX, Road Glide Custom in Black Denim. Real excited to start riding it. Tomorrow will be the maiden voyage. A far cry from my 06 Sportster XL1200 Low. I have a question; I tried to drop the air pressure in the rear shocks, but nothing happened. I thought it would be as simple as depressing the nipple in the valve stem like a tire. Is that wrong, because nothing happened. The pressure gauge is reading over 40 and it should be between 20-30 from what I read in the manual. The salesman did go over the bike with me, but that wasn't covered too thoroughly I guess.
THanks
David
Yep, that's how you remove air. I usually run 25 or so. Get yourself a hand pump. I use a Fox shock pump that I had for my mountain bikes.
You are gonna luv the new Glide. I've put nearly 1,500 miles on my FLTRU in the 2 weeks since I brought it home. If I had gotten an FLTRX it would have been that black denim.
Buy yourself the the HD suspension pump, it is the best thing to use, the shocks hold very little air. The part# is 54630-03A and lists for 49.95, but I imagine you could get it for around 43 dollars or so.
It has a release valve and also it only takes a few pumps to aid 5-10pds of air. I bought mine the day I bought the bike and love it.
Here are the pics as requested and promised. Took her for her maiden voyage today and what a ride.
Any questions I had about whether or not I made the right purchase decision have been answered. I LOVE IT!
