I am the one that said the manual was $70. On the internet it was msrp at 60. I paid $60 plus 8.25% sales tax. Close to $70. Just didn't want to be caught in a lie that I put in print. I looked at internet purchase, but with shipping cost, it wasn't worth the hassle as I was at the dealer.
I can't believe that a manual cost $70.00, I was given one with all the used bikes I have bought in the past and I know one was bought and given to me by the dealer. WOW!!!
Don't confuse the service manual with an owners manual.
The service manual naturally will be more expensive, but also much more detailed.
MSRP for the service manual is $60.
MSRP for the owners manual is $20
But even an owners manual will tell you how to change the oil, and how much you need.
I bought my service manual from Tadebit for $8. The PIA part is that you have to print out the sections you need. I have service manuals for other items and it is nice to be able to flip though pages without having to go to the computer, but it works...
I am new to HD, and have been wondering my options as well. Mine was fully serviced when I picked her up, so I have a few miles to put on her befor I need to change fluids. I have been wondering what to use as well, but it's all so confusing, with so many different opinions.
Is there anthing wrong with just buying the HD lubes from the dealer? Will it cost that much more? Am I in for some sticker shock?
I have tried running full syn in my metric bikes, didn't notice much difference, and ended up going back to reg Dino oil. Probably gonna stick with it with my Harley.
$70 bucks for the manual.. Hmmm looks like I am going to be spending lots of money! Can anybody from MN chime in where I could get Redline Shockproof?
Not sure who sells Shockproof here in the cities, but I just order mine from Summit Racing. Great service, decent prices, fast shipping. Highly recommend them for all Redline products (I won't use anything but).
Ride safe, and hope to see you on the Flood Run on April 16th (www.floodrun.org).
