I was told that the moco Had upgraded gaskets for the rocker covers... does anyone know if that's true? If so,maybe there's some truth to a "better" gasket. Wondering also if I should should switch to cometic gaskets for the rocker covers on my evolution.

Leaks are usually caused by imperfect mating surfaces (warped, nicked), or surfaces that weren't properly cleaned. Never had a problem with an HD gasket when torqued correctly.

I have been down the leaking rocker box gasket road with an EVO. To the point that it ruined a trip I was on, because not matter what we did we could not get the gaskets to stay in place and ran oil all over the bike while going down the highway. I had to replace the rocker box, because it was warped and it hasn't leaked a drop since.

I'd venture to guess that what the OP is hearing about as a "leaking or seeping" primary is not from the gasket, but from the inner primary seal. That tends to weep and run down to the low point before dripping, and often looks like a gasket leak.

He isn't asking about the derby cover gasket. He is asking about the primary gasket. There have been several cases where people noticed seeping soon after changing to syn in the primary.
Ypu can disassemble, clean and hone the surfaces, apply grease or gasket sealer, new gasket, torque to spec and it most likely won't seep. It is more work and more expense than just changing the type of oil. There really is no good reason to run syn in the primary and running thicker fluid may eliminate the seep.
I know he was talking about the primary cover gasket. I have read where some had leaks at the Derby cover as well. I was simply stating the importance of the sequence of bolt tightening. I've been in the Mechanical industry all my life. Been a Millwright most of it. Put together many gearbox's. One technique I always used when dealing with a cover like the primary, I would make some studs, in this case about 4 would do it. Place the studs in the holes in a square, two in the top area and two in the bottom area. lightly lubricate the mating surface and slide the gasket over the studs. lightly lubricate the primary cover and slide it over the studs and let ti rest against the gasket. Put all the bolts in the remaining holes and snug them evenly before attempting the final torque. just saying!

I have reused my primary cover gaskets many times with no sealer at all,and they still never leak. You might have warped or nicked covers

I'm not ignorant about how to make home-made gaskets nor am I pampered. I simple put away the shade-tree mechanic tools a long time ago. As long as I can afford a proper tool and the correct parts, that's what it will be.

Thanks for answering my question.

I've got some seepage from the primary cover and was planning a SE compensator upgrade and was only wondering if there were any better gaskets than replacement HD gaskets.

I have never worked on anything that has gaskets without having a replacement gasket just in case.

Now the good old "SYN" will cause your primary to leak & dino won't. What was in most of the oil drippin, leaking all over the ground "BEFORE" they made SYN HD's!!!!!!!
