Had an 06 RKC, traded it for a 07 SG. Not that I disliked the RKC, but the full fairing is a definate +.
With the taller windshield and cruise, I can roll all day. Definately take less wind abuse on the SG and the
radio is nice. I don't think I took my windshield off the Road King but once, and it was just for cleaning.
I have an '04 RKCustom that I put a Hoppe Fairing on. I created an SG before they came out. I get the advantages of both bikes and I love it.

I did the same thing with my 04 RK Custom except I used a Dragonfly fairing.
Wait until you start paying for maintenance & repairs on the Beemer(& yes, they do break)
A neighbor of mine is riding a Harley now after quite a few years of Beemer ownership, he spent an absolute fortune keeping the Beemers running correctly as the miles piled up.
Where you live and your riding season may have an impact. Living in the northeast, after many years of riding in cold weather with no windshield or plastic, I now think the Glides are great. Good luck on your choice.
i hopefully will be adding a dead center or hoppe fairing (in cobalt w/short shield) to my RK Classic... the reason i went with my RKC was due to me being able to remove the shield. i dont like the idea of a fixed fairing.
with the stock shield, hoppe/dead center or none at all- its a VERY versatile ride.
I had both a rdkg classic and a street glide. problems with both bikes, dealers and moto co. dumped them all and bought a BMW. NEVER LOOKED BACK!
That's ironic. I've owned 3 new BMWs - including an '06 R1200GS that left me stranded beside the road with less than 600 miles on the odometer. Took me 3 weeks to get an appointment scheduled for its 600 mile service.
If you think that moving from Harley to BMW is going to get you a more reliable bike or better dealership service, you're in for an expensive surprise.
