I had a great experience ordering my RK through the AAFES at Ramstein, Germany. Picked my bike up here in Virginia. No problems or hic-cups. The dealer was great to work with even though they didn't make a dime off of me from the sale. I'd do it again without thinking twice about it.

Thanks for all of the responses. Sounds like I don't have to much to worry about. Can't wait to get back from the 'stan and start racking up the miles.

I bought two bikes from the Army Air Force Extortion Service in Germany and pick up was easy. Be warned that if you pick it up in the states then you will be charged tax when you register it (depending on state rules for tax). Many times they tell you it is tax free at AAFES and when you get to the states you have to pony up a few thousand for state tax.

Yep, the state will get its fair share. Or should I say TAKE its fair share.

still a good deal when you factor in the savings on the scoot and the added options.

Yeah unfortunately you still have to pay taxes on that new vehicle. With AAFES the 5 year extended warranty is part of the deal, you can't even decline it if you wanted to. That warranty is over $1k extra, so all things considered you simply can not get a better deal anywhere on a new bike, barring a HD employee discount. Take a fistfull of money for TT&L when you you go to pick up your bike, then go ride it and enjoy, you'll forget about all that money for a while, trust me.

I purchase two bikes through AAFES. Both were exactly what I ordered without the extended warranty....warranty is an option. First bike (04 Heritage) was delivered in the states and yes I had to pay sales tax when registering. I took delivery of the second bike (09 CVO Ultra) in England so when I brought it back to the states and registered it, the bike was used so I did not have to pay any sales tax. Both dealerships treated me and my bikes like they sold them to me themselves. I'd have not problem ordering from AAFES again or recommending them.

First time a car, truck, or Motorcycle are registered in the states you will pay sales tax on it, unless of course you are in Alaska, Oregon, Montana, Delaware or New Hampshire........that being said, shop before you buy......Harley Davidson has a great reputation with Military Car Sales, not so much with other brands, but they will barter......

I stand corrected; my purchase in 2006 in Iraq, the 5 year warranty was part of the deal and it was not optional, I guess there are different terms at other locations. Either way, still the best you can do on a new bike.
