Question Aafes

Just put an order in for a 2011 Ultra Limited through AAFES. Just wanted to know if anyone has done this and ran into any problems picking the bike up at the dealership. Let me know what you think.

I have known several people who have ordered through AAFES. No one that I know of has had an issue. Are you ordering from downrange or are you CONUS?

Some of the overseas pick-up locations overseas will not cover or protect your bike while waiting for you to transport it to your location. A guy here in Belgium drove hours to pick up his bike and it was covered in dust, dirt, and grime. It also had a blown fork seal. Nevertheless it wasn't long before he noticed most of his allen bolt were covered in rust as well. The aluminum parts were also corroded. Just DO NOT accept it if it's less than 100% when you go to pick it up.

Ordered my 2010 Ultra Limited through Exchange New Car Sales (AAFES)while I was deployed to Iraq in 2009. Selected a dealer to have it delivered to in the Milwaukee area. They received it and set it up as if they sold it to me. Paperwork and everything was if I was buying it through them including all parts and accessories discounts. Good experience, even though I was worried as you are.

I haven't bought from AAFES since I've been in Iraq but I was with my friend who did. He bought at the main on the VBC, I was with him when he ordered, great deal, he left and went home, went to delivery dealer, bike was a different color than what he ordered (or thought he had) He thought he'd ordered Denim Black, what he got was Denim Silver, BUT his dealer offered him the same bike in Denim Black! When he came back we went to AAFES, yes, he had ordered in Denim Black, but somehow what got into the system was the Silver (08 Fat Bob). My dealer gives me the same price as AAFES, I've bought two from him since I've been here so I haven't used AAFES, my dealer lets me pay him cash (whatever I want to pay monthly) till it's paid off, no financing, no interest. I bought one from AAFES when I was stationed on Guam though in the late 80's, great deal. Navy was nice enough to lose it on the docks when I PCSd back stateside, was lost for 9 months, came back from Desert Storm, went to New Orleans to finally pick it up, it was destroyed!

same as motordad said. i bought my '06 that way and it was a breeze. no issues what so ever. same thing with my '11 fl. i still pay state tax but no fed. and as with anything you buy new, look it over (which they ussually do with you ) before taking delivery. good luck!

Send a PM to MossyOak. He's my brother. He bought his Fatboy through AAFES when he was over in Iraq.

Default great experience

I did this in 05 to buy my VRod. It was a great experience. I told the new car sales people what I wanted, and it was ordered. As soon as I got into town, I called the dealer it was being delivered to to confirm pick up date and set appointment. All paperwork was ready to go...was in and out of the dealer in about 30 minutes. Ordered my chysler pacific and 300 this way as well.

I bought my 2010 Road King through AAfes at Al Udeid in 2009. I also bought my Road King on Guam Aafes in 1998. They were both hassle free experiences and I'd do it again...I highly recommend it.
