why do Amazon mp3's not play on H/K stereo
why do Amazon mp3's not play on H/K stereo
files ripped from cd's or downloaded from other sites play just fine when I burn a data mp3 disk, but anything bought from amazon.com does not play. They will play if I burn a music cd, but then you only get 80 minutes. Does anybody know why or how to fix it so that they will play?

It's most likely due to the MP3 file not being 100% correct. I use a program called
MP3 Validator

I use the Amazon MP3's and record them on a regular 80 or 90 minute cd, and can get over 8 hours of music on them (they're compressed) PM EvilTwin. That's who helped me to figure it out. Great guy, he even came over to my house and did it for me.

Dump the ID3v2 tags. WinAMP will let you in if whatever you're using doesn't. Never figured out why, but ID3 tags seems fine, ID3v2 tagged files just get skipped over as if they weren't there.

That doesn't always work for me, but it does sometimes.
As mentioned, the ID3v1 tags seem to be fine. The trouble is the ID3v2 tags.
It's easy to get rid of these tags when the track is playing in almost any player. I like MP3Tag, http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

I've had the hardest time trying to burn mp3 files unto a cd. I was using i-tunes to burn but it wouldn't let me, found out that all the disks I downloaded and the music I bought were tagged differently then whats needed (need to be tagged as MP3). No matter what I did it would not let me burn as a data disk. Well tonight I tryed using Windows Media Player, transfered the music list, and was then able to burn it. Just tried out on the bike and it works. I guess the tagging is protection so we can't just give the music away, but it ticks me off that you pay for it, you should be able to do things with it besides listening on I-pod. I wish that I understood more of this stuff, but computers are not really my thing.

I don't know if this would apply to songs purchased from Amazon but here is what I do to get my songs purchased from ITunes into MP3s that I can then burn to a MP3 CD or play on my Zumo.
First burn the songs to a regular music CD (not MP3). Next change import preferences in ITunes (I think this would be the same for any music application) import using 'MP3 encoder'. Then select or create a playlist of the MP3s you just imported and burn as an MP3 disk or transfer them to an MP3 player.
This seems to strip the Digital Music Rights (DRM) from the music files. This is for music that I paid for and own and I am just changing it so I can play it on the player in my bike or Zumo.
