It was a pain to put together, and not nearly as good as a garage, but it was much better than just a cover out in the wind and rain...
Where did you get yours? Sounds like a reasonable deal

I have also thought about buying an enclosed trailer. Found some decent priced ones on craigslist.

Bought a 2010 RK new. I live in an apartment so she spent the summer in the parking lot being exposed to wind, sun, rain and missaligned lawn sprinklers without any cover at all. I bought an H-D Motorcycle Super Shield Cover 98743-09 from the dealer in the fall and during last winter she withstood more rain, snow [some deeper than what's in the photo] and temps down to -9F.
The Hog can withsand alot with a little care so I don't worry too much. This cover is nice because it has an inner liner that won't damage chrome or paint, vents, lock and chain eyelets, a good strap and one hell of a rubber band to hold it on in some very high winds.

Just me but I would not leave my bike outside with a cover for any amount of time. When I lived without a garage I bought an enclosed trailer with a Condor chock and just rode in and out for a few years. If you don't have the room for that and "friends" garage or a rented one is the way to go. If not, check out storage places that will let you store a MC in them. I know it's a PITA but for the security and safety it's worth it.

BTW, after writing this I just remember that a friend had a bike stolen from behind his apt and another had his knocked over......

I agree with many above-- it should have a shelter other just a cover if possible. Not knocking those who do use a cover, but if you have any space at all for a 10 x 10 metal garden tool shed it would do you for a while. Just make sure you put some sort of floor in it to keep condensation from rising from the ground.

Even a carport is good if you can put some sort of wall on the end and side exposed to the worst weather as a weather break.

Good luck with your search.

My first bike was a used FLH that had stayed outside uncovered in Ohio for 4 years. It was a total POS. Besides the fact that the guy didn't ever do anything to it except ride the crap out of it, it was dull, rusty in spots and just plain worn. Get something, anything to cover it. A used trailer, a storage shed, something.

I have never been fortunate to have a garage. When I bought my new Goldwing, I swore I would not park it outside like I did all of my other motorcycles. I bought this 8'x16' storage building and it is now where my Ultra Classic sleeps.

Whether you go with a small shed or a cover make sure both are vented so moisture and humidity cannot be allowed to build.
