Ok I don't get it. What exactly is the major difference between the two? Besides a fixed fairing on the road glide what is it about the rg that makes it such a loved bike? I'm not knocking it but I don't understand the ride difference. I'll drive my glide all day on the highway so to refer to it as a bar hopper I don't get that either. Any one who has owned both bikes that can enlighten me? Thanks

They both work fine.

I bought the SG becasue I like the dash being right in front of me, and I like the look.

Get the Street glide. You will keep going off the road with the Road glide the headlights don't turn.

That is one of the reasons I didn't get another SG. With my SG at night I would have to put on reading glasses as I rode to read the guages, with the RG I can read them at night without glasses.

Yeah, get the Street Glide, we don't want our RGs to become like the SG - a common, one of so many, the usual, see every where bike. It is nice to have something different like a RG, but rides so well.

The big difference is the way the fairings are mounted, (and looks). One the frame takes the constant beating of the wind where the other the forks and steering get it. One was designed in a wind tunnel where the other was designed more to protect the rider from the elements. When I first got on my SG I felt like the front wheel floped like my choppers did, the RG does not do it. Both are great bikes, and I would not mind having either, just at this time I prefer the RG over the SG. To tell you the truth if the RG still looked like it did years ago with the big reflectors I still would not own one no matter how much better they rode.
For the most part most of the badgering on the forum is all in fun, although some take it seriously.
