I've been trying to decide between the two myself so in January I went to Vegas and rented both, Street Glide on the first day, Road Glide on the second day. Took the same route with both, at the same time of day, same stops. Vegas, up 15 to Valley of Fire, down the shores of Lake Mead to Henderson, back to the Strip. At the end of both days the results were the Road Glide, hands down. Weather and wind the same both days but having that frame mounted fairing eased the wind strain (gusting to 40 mph) and even better, RG used 3 gallons less fuel than the SG!. All set to buy, then I see the '11 RGU, am renting in May, will see if I want the 103 version instead before plunking the cash down.
Ok I don't get it. What exactly is the major difference between the two? Besides a fixed fairing on the road glide what is it about the rg that makes it such a loved bike? I'm not knocking it but I don't understand the ride difference. I'll drive my glide all day on the highway so to refer to it as a bar hopper I don't get that either. Any one who has owned both bikes that can enlighten me? Thanks
Well you modded the sh*t out of your bike, so I'm sure it's a lot more enjoyable then stock, especially with the shocks.. lucky bastard.
Be honest Joe. You bought one cause you really liked mine.. huh?
Nuff said? LOLOLOL!!
SG envy, especially after ridin' one??
That's the way it worked for me anyway.
One ride is all it took before I realized what I had been missing, and I'll bet that was the case w/you too.
I'm curious. You hear a lot of batwing to road glide converts, but not many road glide to batwing converts. Are any of you out there? If so, tell me about it.
Comes down to personal preference. The Road Glide Custom is the exact same bike as a StreetGlide, wheels everything. Only difference is the pinstriping on the tank, different handlebars and different fairing.
I like the look of the Streetglide, and it rides GREAT. All the comments about the forks feeling heavy etc. , I don't feel a thing!
i had a 08 roadglide rode for awhile the tranny bearings went out 2 weeks to fix it. i took off to go home on my way home i looked at my wife and said i wanna new bike. she said do what u wanna do i turn around walk itnt service tell them keep the bike iam buying a new one. bought a new 2009 black streetglide did a 103 stage 4 wheels tour pak the whole 9 yards. went to the dealer seen a new 11 sedona orange FLTRX that was all it took bought it glad i did not downing the SG but to me the roadglide handles better then the streetglide. theres my story.
