Does changing the pressure in the shocks really make a difference?

That one looks very similar to the HD pump, and should work just fine.

let the air out and hit a big bump and then put 20 lbs in and hit the same bump and repost your answer

On a 300 psi pump the gauge wont do you any good, thats the same problem with the cheap Progressive gauges on ebay. You need a low pressure pump/gauge.

When I picked up my 2008 ultra last year (new to me) i found a pump identical to the harley one online for approx 20 bucks. It is the same pump just wasnt painted black and had the harly name on it. Has the same 0-60 gueage and the release valve etc. i found it at a chopper supply shop in CA. just do a google search. Jeff

Absolutely, I run about 20 psi riding solo. The HD hand pump is the only way to go.

As others have pointed out, more pressure is required when going 2 up.

Just make sure you don't give the little lady a complex when you tell her you have to add air to the shocks because she's going to be on the back.
