Default Need Help - Air Cleaner install Problem

OK, so I'm installing a SE air cleaner on my RGC and after getting the factory air cleaner off, the instructions say you have to remove the Induction Module Support Bracket. Its held in place with 2 vertical screws, but they are behind the bracket, so you need to have the gas tank out of the way. I don't have a service manual yet, so I'm not sure how to lift up the gas tank. I'm assuming it's hinged and folds up from back to front.

Can any body assist with some basic instruction, or tell me a trick on how to access the two screws behind the plastic bracket? I thought about just cutting it off, but prefer not to.

I was able to do it without touching the tank.

The tank is easy to lift....Remove the seat and you will find a bolt holding the rear of the tank down. Then loosen the two front tank screws and you should be able to lift the rear of the tank.

I think the induction screws you want to remove will be tight because they have loctite on them.

yea, they are tight as crap...I think they have lock tight on them...I lifted the rear of the tank a few inches and stuck a piece of 2 x4 under it to hold it up then I could get the allen wrench in the other way (long ways down) and put a small deep socket and extension on the short end of the allen and used it as a cheater...if it still seems like it is going to strip the head out use a soldering iron to heat up the bolt and that should loosen the lock tight....or instead of using a L shaped allen get one of the ones that go in your socket wrench...

What he said, just remember to take your time, and DO NOT strip the bolts.

Allen Sockets work best, but you can do it whit a wrenches if you raise the tank to get some room to break them loose.

Good Luck.....

Mine were crazy tight also but I did get them out with a allen without touching the tank. I put several strips of electrical tape on the lower part of tank for protection. Re: 2011 install, Did you guys use the double thick gasket to fill the space between the throttle body?

I finally got to them using the "Lift the tank a few inches" method. I wasn't sure what to do with the plastic wire clip that goes behind the SE air cleaner, as it doesn't clip to the thinner SE a/c back plate. What did you guys do with yours?

Took the clip off and wire tied the wires up under the tank.
