I clipped mine back onto the metal bracket (after cutting the ends off). It worked really well. If you want I could post a few pics tomorrow?

Put a couple pieces of masking tape on the bottom edge of your tank to prevent scratching and go at it with a standard allen key, difficult and you can only make small rotations, but easy enough to do without disturbing your tank.

Yeah pics would be nice. I was thinking about hacksawing/dremeling off the left and right ends of the factory metal bracket and using it myself. It seems the cleanest. Just wanted to see if anyone else (like you) did it. Thanks for offering pics. As soon as I replace the exhaust system, I'll go back to the air cleaner.

I also just used an allen wrench. It was a tight fit, but it did fit without touching the tank. I had to turn the screw in small increments, but they did eventually come out.

Thanks for the pics. That 1st pic of the cut/smoothed/painted bracket is pretty much what I had in mind. I'm hoping it works out just as good with my regular SE air cleaner, as it did with your Heavy Breather. But I still think its STUPID that HD didn't design a clean cosmetic solution for this upon designing the HD SE air cleaners.

I did the same thing with mine and the Fuel Moto air cleaner.

use a vise & a decent hack saw. it'll only take a few min. longest part is paint dry and the remount to intake

I made a bracket for mine from a piece of aluminum angle.

The modified stock bracket in the earlier post looks nice!

I didn't alter my original because I'm nuts about retaining all the stock parts whenever I make a change. A habit that comes from restoring old cars to original condition.
