Lound Clanking after warm-up
This past Fall, I had my entire cam compartment rebuilt with new cams and upgraded to the hydraulic cam plate, oil pump, and chain tensioners. A few weeks ago, I thought I would take my 2002 FLHTC-I out for a short spin as the temps have started to raise. After about 4 miles, and the bike had time to completely warm up, I heard a very loud CLANKING noise from the right side of my bike. It almost sounded like the pipe attached to my front cylinder was coming lose and making that sound, but that was not the case. I was able to get my bike home, and I called my buddy who works for a local Harley Davidson Dealership. He was able to stop by my house the next day to see if he could figure it out. To my surprise, when I started it up for him, it sounded just fine. He took the bike for a ride, and sure enough, it started to CLANK loudly, all at once after about 3 - 4 miles. Needless to say, my bike is back in the shop, and the cam compartment has been inspected. All seems good, except for one of the lifters seems to be dry, in other words, it doesn't seem to be getting enough oil.
I was just wondering if anyone else has done this upgrade, and has experienced the same CLANKING noise after the bike warms up. The noise isn't something that you deal with, it is very, very loud.
Thank you ahead of time.
