Thanks. I never think about the manual. How does the side covers come off by the way. I can't get to my manual right now?
On mine, each side cover is held on at 3 points. They simply pull straight off the bike...there's little **** on each that helps hold them in while on the bike. Put a few fingers behind the edge, and slowly work your hand around to find the connections and pull off. Not sure if the '11 models are different though.
to remove side covers...Remove saddlebags and set aside..and then pull the side covers off (they just snap into place)
To remove seat...remove seat strap and remove screw at back of seat on fender...lift up and pull rearward..Battery will be under a cover that has electronics on top of it.
