Default Winter Mods - now electrical problem

So over the winter I installed:
PC-V with a relay off the factory ACC switch for map switching
Run/Brake/Signal module for the Tour Pak (H-D part)
Radio Shack Piezo Sirens

Finally got out for a ride yesterday & today. Yesterday the cruise dropped out. The orange light on the dash stayed on, but it wouldn't re-engage. Went home & followed the instructions to pull the cc dropout codes, but got nothing. It was getting late, things to do, left it til today.

Today had the cruise on for about 10min when it dropped out. Same as yesterday it wouldn't re-engage. Got on the hwy, up to cruising speed & shifted to 6th - no green indicator! Got off the hwy, into a parking lot & shut the bike off for 2 minutes, then back on the hwy again. Got up to cruising speed again, shifted to 6th - the light came on - then went out. Cruise doesn't engage either.

Came home & tried to pull the cc codes and got noting. Tried the dropout functions and all worked - front brake, back brake, roll off, resume, & clutch. On the clutch test, the light didn't go green until I really squeezed the lever in tight. There is a little slack in my cable, but I think this is still normal stretching for a new bike (3000km - 1800miles)

Two questions:
  • Would that little bit of free play in my clutch cause the cruise to drop out?
  • Is the 6 gear indicator malfunction part of the cruise dropout?
I can't tell if the two problems are related, as I never got to try the cruise before the 6 gear indicator went out the second time.

I can't see how any of my mods should affect the CC or the 6 gear indicator - but ... computers are little black boxes full of smoke and surrounded by mirrors,... right?

Got my manual out as I type, looking up clutch adjustment.

Thanks for any advise.

There has to be some free play in your clutch cable. The slack disappears when you turn your bars to the right.
Check everywhere you touched the wiring. You might be pinching a wire somewhere.

I hope you have found out the solution, but I am wondering that you have any kinds of leather fringes on the levers.
At a high speed, the fringes can pull the lever inward and that will disconnect the cruise control.
There are 3 things that will disengage the cruise control:
  1. Braking
  2. Roll the throttle forward
  3. and of course, press the "cruise control" button
If you have not found out the cause, the you should trouble shoot based on the above actions.
I hope this help somehow.
