Default Detachable Backrest

Does anyone have a picture of the docking hardware and backrest mounted.According to the hd dealer you could use a certain kit for the backrest and the removable tourpac.Im not talking about a solo seat tourpac either.Im not sure if what he told me is correct,so Im trying to get some help from people that have been down this road. Thanks in advance.

I will assume they are the same for all touring models that come without a tour pack stock. I put one on my RKC, and you have to get the front docking hardware kit, the rear docking hardware kit, and use parts that come with the backrest kit. They come separately because different detachable crap uses parts from different kits. Confused yet? Wait ‘til you start looking at the instructions. I ended up turning all four sets of instructions to the parts assembly pictures to see how it all fits together. It’s a pretty easy install, just goofy instructions. Myself, I would rather have a non-detachable, because it never comes off anyway. I try to get a pic for ya.

edit: You have to buy another kit to mount a tour pack rack, and use parts from all three docking kits. If I could afford the tour pak set up, I wouldn't buy the backrest.

I have an 05 RK with the QD Backrest and QD luggage rack. Each uses separate mounts. There are two mounting points for each on each side for a total of 8 mounting places. The front of each accessory has a slot to slide on the leading mount and then it rotates down into place. There is a notched latch that rotates around the rear mount and locks into place.

Worried about security for your attachments? Harley sells a lock that secures your QD items to the bike. Part # 46063-98 singly or 46106-00 for two keyed alike.

This is set up for the detachable back rest and tour pak. The rear one is for the tour pak. The middle one is for the back rest. The very first one conects the front of the back rest bracket or the front of the tour pak bracket. To answer you question, a total of 6. 4 without the tour pak docket. The job is fairly easy but you need to pay attention to the rear docket when installing. Ed

OK, I got a problem.

2005 Road King Classic. Purchased the docking kit for a sissy bar. Took off the three screws on each side to mount the bracket which includes the saddle bag mount. I can not get the two screws on top of the bracket in because the welded nut, frame piece etc will not align so I can get the screw started.

What I thought should be an easy task is now impossible.

HELP?

I had the same problem, you'll need to loosen all the bolts that lead to the bracket that connects the pipes to under the license plate. Two bolts under the bags and I think one on the frame. It's wierd, but once you loosen them, you can push up on the pipes to get the holes aligned, Good luck.
