Default Crack in windshield

Was doing some maintenance over the weekend and must have overtightened one of the screws on the stock chrome windshield trim. Noticed about a 1/2" crack coming from one of them last night. Was thinking of drilling a small hole at the end of the crack to stop it. Has anyone done anything like this before or is there a better idea?

drilling the hole works good, we used to do that for the stunt bike all the time.

I'd apply methylene chloride at the crack with a hypodermic needle but that may be tough for you to find. Maybe a glass place or a plastics fabricater.

Small hole will stop the crack. Overtightening is a disease, but it is curable. At least you didn't wreck anything expensive.

Should you decide to replace it Memphis Shades has nice replacements at a decent price and can be had in gradient colors to match your bike. Think I paid about a hundred and change. The stock shield has an adhesive so just keeping it snug is sufficient. BTW, when I replaced mine I reversed the nut/bolt orientation and think it looks much better.

What size hole is recommended? Do you fill the hole with a plug afterwords to avoid turning it into a whistle?

I am thinking bad. I wear a full face shield helmet and the idea of 70mph and driving behind a big truck and bumpy air and that finishing up the crack and it flying off would bother me. May be just like the space shuttle shot of the flying tile.

The smallest drill bit you can find, no whistle.
