Default bdl compensator

Had one installed on my 09 streetglide to take care of a starter grinding problem
that occured when the bike was hot. It did solve my starter problem however it took out my crankshaft in just 400 miles. bdl will not return my calls. my mechanic says it was a defective part. I think i am going to get stuck with the repair bill . My streetgilde has 10000 miles and i do nto ride hard . I will not be installing a bdl compensator ever again. I post this to warn others and to see if anyone else has had this issue.
