I went from a 1200 Custom to a 2009 Road King. I sold the Sportster 3 weeks later. Once I spent a few hundred miles on the RK, I knew the Sportster would never be used.
Can you get the rear tour pack and SG fairing for an RK? Some seemed to say yes. The versatility of the RK is appealing, the tour pack is functional, but the upgrade from the RK wind shield to the SG fairing would be more of a luxury than a necessity. As soon as my garage situation is taken care of it may be time to pull the trigger.
By the time you buy the tour pack. fairing, and all the hardware to mount both of them on a Road King it will cost more than a Street Glide. You might do better to find an older Ultra and strip it down and add detachable hardware to look like a SG.
