Default Retractable tour pack tether

Has anyone had one of these retractable tour pack tethers break and how old was it?

Had mine about 6 months and no problems yet. It does take the lid farther back ( Kinda scary) the the factory one does, but I like it a lot better.

I have had mine for 6 months and have had no problems. I bought mine because I got tired of the stock trunk cord always getting closed on. IMO, money well spent.

If you take the bottom of the lid cord off turn it half a turn and reinstall it the cord will stay in and not get caught. Much cheaper, got that tip from a post here.

Well I decided to give it a chance and I like it better than the cord. I really like the look of the chrome hinges. They should be there from the factory!!

Default Mine Broke

I have 201 miles on my new 2012 Limited and mine broke. When it broke it took the lid off, took a chunk out of the tour pak, scratched the saddlebag, scratched the luggage rack, and scratched the passenger backrest.

Two days after I installed mine I got hit by a car and the bike was totaled.
