I don't have the Harley transitions, but I do have a pair of prescription ground googles that are transitions, and they are great. Now I don't have to worry about getting caught out after dark without proper eye protection. I highly recommend going this route, whether they are Harley or not. It just makes sense.
The transition lens can lose their transitioning nature as they age.
I have a set from Willey and they do not get as dark in the sun as they used to. At night and in the rain, they are clear. They are 2.5 years old.
They still work well in all conditions. I like transition lenses.
I have the 7Eye (Panoptx) that I bought at the HD dealer's and really like them. I tried the WileyX but they didn't fit as well as the 7Eye. I wear them whenever it is overcast or threatening to rain as well as at night. As mentioned by other posters, they do not get as dark as regular sunglasses so I also carry a pair of 7Eye sunglasses for sunny days. Quality is excellent and you can get the in a perscription lens.
I wear **** frames & RX Transitions. They don't get has dark as I would like. I do have RX sunglasses when needed. Some of us with RX it can get spendy when trying these other RX transitions & it also depends on what your Rx numbers are.
I have had HD trans. lenses for a year now. Very comfortable I like them. Cant remember what model but cost $54.00 plus tax. they are very clear at night and turn Very Dark in the sun. they have a small cushion liner on the inside and are comfortable enough to wear all day
I Have Ray Ban frames with prescription transition lenses. They work well under normal conditions, but when worn under a three quarter helmet with a vizor (Nolan), or a full face (Arai Corsair RX7), they remain perfectly clear! What's the point?
