I've heard that usually happends from too much oil in the primary. I've read on the forum that most use 3.5 qts vs the 4 that harley states.
I don't think that's an issue because all the old oil is never drained completely from the system anyway and it's standard practice to check your oil level.
Was wondering if anyone has seen replacement badging for this air cleaner? The eagle is OK but I'ld rather have "103" or "FLHX" on it.
I actually like the Eagle on mine, and doubt I will change it, but was also wondering why HD makes a 110 badge, but not a 103. Especially when so many people are feigning for the 103 primary covers.
I have oil blowing on mine. Only have about 600 miles on her. I noticed it when I replaced the filter to a K&N Filter. Kinda sucks that you pay 24,000 for a bike and it leaks oil.
It would be nice to have a few choices. I have the Dark demon style primary/timer covers and it would be neat to have that version for the a/c cover...
DC1057, that's the engine oil level that's 3.5 qts. Not the primary. Primary takes 38ozs.
My FLHTK 103 only spits up very little oil into my ventilator A/C and what oil she does spit up appears to be related to how fast I ride her.
I will be rigging up a hose evenyually to vent the oil mist to the ground.
I asked the same question about a replacement badge for the ventillator a few months ago. I still haven't found anything aftermarket. I have the 96 inch engine and have no plans to go bigger, so H-D currently has no options either. I'm still looking but it seems I may have to get creative.
I've had the ventillator on my 09 SG for 15K miles. I switched to the K&N filter about 2K miles ago. I have never had any problem with it blowing oil, so that's a mystery to me. Sounds like a symptom of something with the engine, not the air cleaner.

Slightly off topic: I tried the K&N Filter for my Ventilator and it wouldn't fit inside the cover. They're now on back order and have been waiting a month or more to get another one to try. It is the correct filter per K&N. I sure hope it fits when it comes in.
I've heard on this forum that slight oil misting will occur. I believe there are vent tubes that are attached to the a/c backing plate. The hotter the oil the thinner it gets and you have misting.
A few drips, no big deal. When it spews and gets on your jeans, side covers and hardbags it's an issue. Like I stated before, I think it's because the oil level is high.
I had this problem after my 20,000 mile service on my last bike. It had the SE a/c kit and did it. When I did the next oil change the issue was pretty much gone.
If I was to guess, I bet the dealers give oil changes to the grunts. They just drain, add 4 quarts and are done with it.
