Default Swapping bars on a Road Glide

Ok - stupid questions, I'm sure, but how on earth does one get the bars off a Road Glide, and how do you get the twist grip sensor out?

Oh yeah - its an 09.

Well first, you pry open your wallet and gingerly apply $60 towards a 2009 Touring service manual. Then you proceed with the stated instructions.

Sorry, had to before someone else did! I hope you get some good responses, I'll be doing this on my 2011 FLTRU soon as it comes in!

*cough**cough**bite me**cough**cough*

I was expecting the RTFM comment, and thank you for getting it out of the way so quickly.

I dont do much to the bike myself - hence the reason I dont have a service manual. However, you're right - it may well just be time to get it.

You dont really want that FLTRU....you'll get too comfortable, and all your friends with batwings will be too tired to go out and party after the longer rides

I find the longer I have the bike, the more I refer to the Service Manual.

Now if there was an electronic version of the manual I'd be all over that.

I do very little of my own work any more due to bad back and bad knees. However, I still bought the manual and parts book because I want to know as much about how the bike is put together as I can. Small expense for a world of knowledge.

Well you'll have to take the outer fairing off to get to the twist grip sensor plug. Unfortunatley that is the only reason why it has to come off! Undo the switch assembly on the handlebar to remove the grip. The twist grip sensor should pull right out but be careful to feed the wire in from the other side so not to damage that and the green connector. Do not pry the green connector apart by inserting a screwdriver and twisting. It will surely break. Be gentle.

Sigh - I was afraid of that...

Oh well, needed an excuse to pull it off and pop in new headlamp bulbs...now I have one.
