Default Speedo

Im cruzing down the road, I have my tunes playing the cruise set and all of a sudden the cruise disengages. Maybe I hit a bump or somthing. I look down all the gages seem ok no lites that should not be lit so I just reset the cruise. Few seconds after it engages it disengages.
This time I was watching My speedo droped to zero..then up..then down..then floated in between for a couple of seconds then went back to normal.
Turned Off the cruise (dash switch) speedo still going up, down or nothing at all. Then starts working then quits, then bounces in between.
By the time I got home it was working normal.

What the hell would cause that?
Where do I start checking?

The tach was rock steady. The engine was running strong and did not miss a beat even when the speedo droped to 0.

It's most likely the speed sensor, it's located on top of the trans on the right side. Sometimes you can get lucky for a while & take it out & clean the metal shavings off & it will work again for a while. It's a magnetic sensor that reads the gear rotating under it, the magnetic part is why it collects the normal small metal particles.
