Just have to post that I took the final steps on buying a 2008 Electra Glide. Haven't seen the bike in person yet - only in email photos. Buying the bike from Grand Junction Harley - Colorado and having it shipped to me in Minnesota should be here by the 2-3 week of May.
The PD that I work for ended their motorcycle unit/program a couple years ago due to the budget cuts that almost everyone was faced with. I have missed being on a HD from that day forward. The wife agreed to the purchase, which I jumped at to find one that fit my needs.
All of my local MN dealers were unable to locate what I wanted and thought that I should "buy something new". It just frustrates me that they didn't listen to what I was looking for but wanted to make the sale and put me in something. Guess I'll still have to be nice because they will have to do service on the bike at some point.
Anyway, the guys at GJ Harley were great and listened to what I was looking for. This was the 3rd bike that they had sent photos of as the first two had damage in places that I just didn't like (i.e. tank, front fender). History behind the bike is that it is a former Denver PD motorcycle.
I havent seen this color (metallic silver & blue) of paint offered by Harley for it's police motorcycles - anyone else know if it's a special order or were departments able to get this color in 2008. Photo attached. Also I've been looking around to keep the stock seat but want to add a passenger seat/backrest for my wife - I've found a few places on line but if anyone has tips, hints on what they got on theirs I'm all ears.
Also, now have a 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 for sale - don't expect to many offers to come from people here however!
I have a 2008 FLHTP also - great bike! Congrats! Mine has been converted to a more civilian (Ultra-Classic) look... I will post pics of it tomorrow.
BTW, I have the Mustang passenger pillion that matches the police air-ride seat if you are interested... they sell for @ $230 new, plus shipping. It wasn't on the bike long. I'll take some pics of it tomorrow. Shoot me a pm and we can discuss...
Looks good! Congrats on the ride!! I'll give you $100.00 cold hard cash for that Kawasaki, if you can deliver it to me!
Well, I just filled up the family Jeep so the $100 cash seems like it maybe a good deal.... but I'll try and hold out just a little longer and see if I can get the price I want... after all the bank owns the bike until not quite mine just yet.
I will have to take pics of my rear passenger pillion that matches the solo police seat, and I also have the Harley detachable passenger sissy-bar, along with the rear docking kit that will fit your bike also, if you are interested in that too...
I am about to leave for the Thunder Beach Bike Rally this week, so it will probably be a week from now before I can get with you on these items.
