I have a buddy that grew up there. His Mother still lives there. It's dead as hell when the rally isn't there. I used to get some real nice left over t-shirts from his mother a few weeks after the rally for free. You should not have any problem at all finding a room as long as it's not during the rally.

two year ago, week before, GREAT riding and weather and everyone was Pumped for the ralley,,,, IF you go the week after, You will see everyones trash and locals Tired of Bikers....

I must be getting old! 
I've been there on the week of a few times and had a great time.
I wouldn't change one thing!
As of late,I seem to have a better time riding without the congestion and HUGE crowds.
It's a great area to ride with many places to stop and explore.
I guess I've outgrown cruising with a couple hundred thousand others!
The bands and mingling are still a ton of fun and the reason that I will be back......the riding during the event.......not so much!
I enjoy riding in the laid back atmosphere much more with only me and a couple friends on the highway!
