Default Drilling the air cleaner backing plate

I tried the search option but, did not find anything. I have read several post about people drilling the air cleaner backing plate. Is there a how to somewhere?

unless your trying a cheap stage one(wont work rite anyway)drilling it just lets intake noise out,and does nothing for performance..i had a stage one ac with out a tuner..it sounded like a huge suction everytime you throttle, like it was hyperventilating..performance seems better with the stock ac too..if your changing the pipes and tuner..just get a SE airfilter..i bought mine used for $15 from pinwall cycle off ebay(actually i live 5 min away), came with everything including another ac cover

Thanks, I appreciate the input. Mine has a stage 1 to begin with so, I guess I will forget the idea.

Any opening other than the one in the bottom improves breathing. Its like breathing through your open mouth and breathing thru a straw. You will have noise regardless. It that was true all the screaming eagle and open filter medium filter systems would be screamers! The filter on my ride has large openings in the front but is also open on the backside. I did this to a Sportster AC (drill the backside out) and the difference was noticeable and stealthy!

Are we talking drilling and tapping the standoffs to reroute the breathers? That's simple to do if so, and yes I got pics of that way.

Yes, I believe so. I believe the thread was in reference to excess oil coming from the breather.

Ok, here's what I did. I took the little holes that are behind the filter and where the oil enters from the breather bolts and I tapped them to accept set screws. I installed set screws with red loctite so they won't come loose and get sucked into the motor

Then I drilled holes in the bottom of the standoff on each side and threaded in a NPT to barb fitting. On these fittings I attached oil line and clamped with the HD oetiker clamps.

I then ran both lines to a tee fitting that sits behind the air cleaner cover and then ran a single line down and around the cam chest (attached to a clamp on one corner) and then ran the line behind the exhaust and underneath the frame.

I knew dawg would chime in on this one. Besides his 5# rubber mallet (not to be confused with mullet, re: his sig pic) his second favorite tool in all the world is a drill.
