Believe it or not, the 2nd best rated filter for the 96" motor is the Super Tech ST 4967 sold by Walmart for $1.99. I have a complete list of rated filters but don't know how to post it. It is also made in the good ole U.S.A. I wouldn't use a Fram for my lawn mower unless it was the only thing available. They have changed their construction.

I had used the Wix filter and liked it. If you go to their web site they have a listing for filters for HD bikes.

Dont mind savin a buck myself but filters can be funny. They all look alike on the outside but can really differ on the inside. Just feel a bit safer stickin with the stock HD one.

Stock HD THE only way to go...I would not trust a 1.99 filter on a 22000 bike... the moco builds filters for the twin cam... wake up and smell the coffee...

Not argueing but can you back up that HD makes their own filter or farms it out?

OKay reword...these are HD approved filters.... if only changing oil and filter every 5k, it is worth the price, and peace of mind.

You guys telling us to only use HD filters crack me up. I guess HD did their marketing well. If a filter rates well and is constructed well then why wouldn't you use it? I guess if spending more money on a filter makes you sleep better then go for it. As for me, needlessly putting dollar bills in the trash can causes me to lose sleep.
