Not saying that Nickerooboo,,, but commenting on 1.99 wally world specials... that is disturbing ...
You do realize we are on an internet forum don't you? On an internet forum people comment on things relative to their interests. In this case the OP asked about filters so I commented on filters. So I'm not really sure what you want me to wake up from?
All I am saying is educate yourself. Do you think for one minute that HD doesn't buy a filter from the lowest bidder, re-badge it with a great big HD, double the price, re-sell it to blindly loyal customers or customers who don't know better, and then laugh themselves all the way to the bank? Of course they do. HD is a business and therefore want to make a profit.
The filters you get from HD are not made by HD, just like the oil you get from them is not made by them. Do some research and you'll likely find that most of the consumables (oil, filters, spark plugs, etc.) that you buy from HD can be had for much cheaper with equal to or better quality.

Well said but ill bet he doesnt read far enuff to understand .. I used to work at a company and we made the fuel disconnects and believe me H/D wants the cheapest price they can get although on the disconnects they did want quality but they also required the cheapest o-rings (buna n ) instead of good viton o-rings. So thats why H/D has issues with the disconnects leaking after a period of time. So bottom line is they are cheap but they do try for quality ? I dont know who makes there oil filters but your right Harley doesnt and they dont make motor oil either..
None of the auto or motorcycle co. makes everything them selves it's all out sourced to different co to meet their standards. Most lubricants and filters are outsourced definitely.

Agreed...but why do you buy an expensive Harley and go cheap on parts....go out and buy yourself an inexpensive motorcycle...I am sure you can buy just as good of a motorcycle from Russia, or Guam...or any cheap labor countries.. not trying to be funny, just wondering why people buy the expensive bikes and go cheap..for that matter make your own aftermarket parts...heck you can buy oil for 2.00 a quart why don't you run that oil instead of more expensive oil..wondering how people draw the lines...
To each his own,I work in the Automotive world by day.Be very careful of which Oil and Filter you use in or on your" AIR COOLED" Harley. They are not water cooled where as you can play around with different Products for long mileage..........
