They were already on them. The salesman did not know why they were installed. He just thought it looked better when he picked it out of the warehouse, not asking if I wanted them or not, he said it was a $300 upgrade.it would be if I had the original.

I just picked up my new 2011 ultra limited from my dealership. As I was loading up my trades in my trailer my salesman called and said it was ready to pick up and it had saddle bag rails on it like the ultra. When we made our deal ,they did not have a black limited in the showroom. Well the dealship said if I do not like them that they would remove them at the 1000 mile service. What is your opinion on saddle bag rails on a ultra limited? They do hide the pinstriping on the bags but chrome does stand out on a black bike although I probably will not bling it out. Leave them or have them removed and put the ultra limited guard on it? Does it look better with the ultra guard or the limited guard on it.Thanks for your feedback.
Soooo.....You purchased a limited, they dealer traded to get the color you wanted?, and it came with something you didnt want? And you got them for free? right?
I sure as hell wouldnt of paid a dime for them......Same as the rest here.... I like mine without them......yuk
With my EGC, I don't mind them being on when the Tourpak is on. If I take the Tourpak off and roll in SG mode, then I'd prefer to NOT have them on.
Too bad HD doesn't make quick detach saddle bag rails. THAT would be cool and money well spent, IMHO.
As for the bags falling off, having the rails does make it nice when you remove the pins so that there's no mishaps with the bags. A buddy of mine has a SG and he's removed the pins and somehow had the bag slip off the bottom rail and hit the ground on the corner, scratching the crap out of the bottom of it, of course.
Yes on all. The general manager said he would put the originals on at 1000 mile service. Still don't know how they ended up on the bike. Bike had 19 miles when I picked it up.

I also removed them from my Ultra. to me they looked like the old bumper cars with the bumper that runs all the way around. I do see where they would protect the bags though.
