Get it. You'll love it. I just scored a 93 FLHS with 42k for $4800 and rode it all weekend, so the deals are out there. Nothing like an old Evo.

He called me today and said it was done, just to stop by and take it out if I wanted tonight. It starts, runs, and rides great! Tour pak and a couple heat shields sound like they need tightened up. The radio still doesn't work, neither does the cruise so it seems ( or I'm not smart enough to run it) But, yes there is a but, The volt gauge rides right at 14, once all the lights are on it's about 12. The most concerning part is that the needle jumps with the turn signals, it goes between 11.5/12v and 14. I don't think that's normal, more wiring issues perhaps? Other than that I really like the bike a lot.

I have a 1989 dresser that I have totally redone. Bought it new in 89. Installed a S&S 124 Engine and trans. I have to agree with what others have said about parts. Not much offered that supports the older models and doe’s not require fabrication to make it work. That being said I love the bike. As far as the volt meter all the older models volt meter jumps with the turn signals. They also read low voltage. Put a good volt meter across the battery to get a true reading. My on board volt meter always read low and I have installed a Compufire 3 phase 40 amp charging system to keep up with the starting demand of the bigger engine. On my volt meter when it reads 13.2 V it is really 14.2 V.

Good to know, I was searching the net and had come across several areas that said the jumping was normal for the older models, I'm just not that used to the HDs and figured I would mention it since I was typing. I'm really thinking I will go ahead and buy it, there are just small things that I can work out over time with it. I'll need something to do with my down time in the winter anyways

Bought my 1990 FLHS new. Sounds as if the seller is determined to do right for the bike in getting it ready for sale. Riding these older bikes is always a bit of an adventure, but that just makes getting home yet again so satisfying! I don't have a voltmeter on mine, but my neutral light winks slightly with the indicators. If you find out why.....

Not trying to sound like the typical dealership reply, but "That is normal." The older style gauges bounce around, while the newer ones do not.

The owner of the bike went out of town for 4 days and just left it with me to check it out and decide before he came back last night. I really like the bike so now I'm a proud Harley owner.

Ignore the parent's run down place in the background, Had to stop by to show dad the new ride.
