No offense meant towards anyone or anyone's parts....but I prefer the look of the HD version. I went to SJHD to see about getting them put on....(let THEM cuss)....and was told they wouldnt fit with the HD adjustable backrest. I know I've seen em (pictures) posted here showing they WOULD work.....just cant find em. (the pictures)
I just installed mine yesterday..
they were a piece of cake on my 2010, took me all of 10min.
the only thing that slowed me down a little bit was putting the clip in on the right side, because the cylinder head sits so close to the frame.
I used a screwdriver to spread the clip out a little bit before putting it onto the frame, it slid right in with no problems after that.
I used a ratcheting box end wrench on the bolts.
[QUOTE=JGraham;8253335]For installing the HD mid frame heat deflectors on my 08 Ultra, I first cut down an allen key as short as possible. I was able to reach behind the rear cylinder and tighten the upper bolt from the left side of the bike. Just make sure to install the right side deflector first.[/QUOTE
Your a better man than me. I tried the cut down allen wrench method didn't work. Couldn't get my giant hands in far enough to both get the wrench engaged or to turn it. I tried a LONG allen wrench and couldn't turn it (to long to swing). Ended up throwing all the allen wrenches and the button head screw in the trash. Used a 1/4x20 hex head bolt and a 12 point box wrench. Worked like a charm
